I'm New

Welcome

Vine Street Baptist Church is a NW Baptist Church located in the heart of Roseburg at 2152 NE Vine Street, right across the street from Jo Lane Middle School. Our Sunday Service is at 11 AM every Sunday morning.

Church History

Vine Street Baptist Church is a unique place with a distinctive difference. Born in the heart of B.L. Millard, the church held its first services in a trailer at the Mt. Nebo Trailer park in 1953. The church was constituted on September 27, 1953 with twenty-six members. Over the years, led by a number of successive pastors with names like, Jacks, Branum, Howard, Goss, Stone, Hollingsead, Phipps, Daley, Collins, Brewer, Holleman, Hall, and Dotson, the church continued to minister the Gospel of Christ to the people of Roseburg.

Through major building projects and land acquisitions the church built its ministry base. However, its primary resource is its people.

The people of Vine Street Baptist Church want to experience the hand of God on their lives, their church, and their community. With a mission to strive to model Jesus Christ by sharing His love with our neighbors, community and world, the people of VSBC desire to let the world experience God through them.

Frequently Asked Questions

What time is the service?

Our worship service begins at 11:00 AM every Sunday morning.

How long is the service?

Services typically last about one hour, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Where is the church located? Is there parking?

We are located at 2152 NE Vine Street, right across from Jo Lane Middle School. Parking is available on-site, with most guests parking near the back of the lot close to the sanctuary entrance.

What should I wear?

Wear what you feel is respectful and comfortable. What matters most is coming with a heart ready to worship God.

Is there something for my kids?

Yes! We offer a nursery for infants and toddlers during the service in our sanctuary building. Children also stay in the service for a special mini-sermon with Pastor Alex and receive children’s bulletins to follow along. If they complete their bulletin, there is a treat for them afterward!

Do I need to bring a Bible?

We encourage everyone to bring a Bible, but if you don’t have one, we’re happy to provide one for free. Just bring yourself and an open heart!

What is the worship like—traditional, contemporary, or blended?

Our worship is a blended style, combining timeless hymns with contemporary praise. Our focus is on God-honoring, truth-filled lyrics that point us to Christ.

Will I be asked to stand or introduce myself?

Not at all! We won’t put you on the spot. But you’ll find plenty of friendly faces eager to introduce themselves and help you feel at home.

Do you take communion every week? Who can participate?

We observe communion quarterly during a special prayer service that includes corporate prayer, communion, and a shared meal. While we believe communion is for believers, we leave that decision to each person before God.

What Bible translation do you use?

We typically use the English Standard Version (ESV) for preaching and Scripture reading, but you're welcome to use any faithful translation.

What does your church believe about God, the Bible, and salvation?

Vine Street Baptist Church holds to a historic, biblical view of God, the authority of Scripture, and salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Our church holds to The Baptist Faith and Message Statement (2000) which you can read here or request a copy when you visit.

Are you affiliated with a denomination?

Yes, we are part of the Northwest Baptist Convention, in partnership with the Southern Baptist Convention.

Are you a Bible-teaching church?

Absolutely. Our sermons are rooted in Scripture, and we strive to equip believers to study God’s Word for themselves. We also offer Bible reading guides and training to help deepen your understanding and application of the Bible.

How can I get connected or meet people?

During our service we offer visitor folders that include connection cards. We contact people through the information on these cards. We’d love to meet you for coffee or lunch and help you get connected through one of our small groups or Bible studies.

Do you offer small groups or Bible studies?

Yes! We have small groups that meet throughout the week, Sunday School at 9:45 AM, and seasonal Men’s and Women’s Bible studies during the school year.

Are there programs for youth, kids, college students, or seniors?

We offer regular children’s and youth programs, along with special gatherings and ministries for senior adults. We’re also praying and planning for a future college ministry.

Do I have to be a member to attend events or serve?

You’re always welcome to attend any of our events and programs. While membership (or watchcare) is required to serve in volunteer capacity, we stress that all of our general events are open to everyone.

What kind of outreach or missions does the church support?

We support missions through the Northwest Baptist Convention and the International Mission Board, along with several local and global ministries. Each month, we highlight a mission or ministry during our services to encourage involvement and prayer.

Do you take an offering? Am I expected to give?

We receive tithes and offerings at the end of each service. If you’re visiting, please don’t feel any pressure to give. We’re simply glad to have you join us!
